What is a Pixel?
A Pixel is a small bit of code that you can implement on your website to enable you to track visits, views and events that visitors, members or buyers will take on your website.
These informations will then be made available to Facebook (for instance) or Paragone so that you can use them to create more targeted audiences, create retargeting campaigns, etc…
Requirements
You'll need to have a website for your business and to be able to update its code in order to set up the Pixel. If you're not the one in charge of managing your website, you can ask the developer(s) in charge to set it up.
Installing your Pixel's default code
Go to the Pixel tab on Facebook Business Manager.
If you don't have a Pixel yet
Click on "Create a Pixel":
Otherwise, if you already have a Pixel
Click on "Set up":
Then, select the type of integration you want to use to set up your Pixel on your website. If you are managing your website yourself, you may select "Manually Install the Code Yourself". If you're not, selecting "Email Instructions to a Developer" will send them the exact same instructions you'll be reading so they can set it up.
You'll have to locate the <head></head> tags where you'll need to place the Pixel code. It will enable you to trigger the default PageView event every time a page is viewed by someone.
Copy and paste your Pixel's code between the <head></head> tags. Do not modify this code even if you want to track more events.
Finally, refresh a page from your website where you put the Pixel's code in order to make it trigger some events to let Facebook know it's well implemented.
Congratulations! You're now able to track any page views you'll get from Facebook users.
